Al Lubel, the 5 times star of the Late Show with David Letterman and former support for Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Hicks, will be moving to the UK in February 2014. Al started off as a Lawyer, to please him mum, and became a comedian to please himself (which did not please his mum). After graduating from law school in Florida, Al moved to Los Angeles, passed the California Bar Exam on his first try and of course, immediately began the practice of stand-up comedy. Lawyer by day and comedian by night, Al was doing justice to neither. So, Al quit the law. This was a good decision, because within a year he won the $100,000 Grand Prize for comedy on Star Search. Doing the The Tonight Show was a childhood fantasy, so when Al heard that Johnny Carson was retiring; he auditioned and became one of the last comics to appear with Johnny. More recently, Al made his fifth appearance on Letterman. Al’s award-winning Edinburgh show ‘Al Lubel is Mentally Al’ mesmerised audiences with his stunningly well crafted and self aware observations full of terrific little asides so much that you’ll never forget his name. During a short trip to London in October, following the success of Edinburgh, Al continued to entice audiences into his weird but certainly wonderful humour performing his solo show and club sets to multiple venues across the UK. “Al Lubel has one of the best jokes I ever heard.” Jerry Seinfeld “Al is a terrifically funny comedian.” David Letterman “You’ll never forget his name.” The Independent. “Al Lubel’s Edinburgh debut has to be one of the funniest shows of the Fringe.” London Is Funny.
Pete Dobbing; So You Think You’re Funny Finalist 2010. New Act of the Year Finalist 2014. Abandoned by his mother and father, Pete Dobbing was raised by wild audiences. A decade as an international street performer eventually led him to stand up comedy, where he brings unnecessary levels of enthusiasm and an unusual perspective on savoury goods. Pete’s jovial personality and keen sense of the audience makes him an excellent compere, with a knack for making everything entertaining ‘Brilliant ‘ Three Weeks. ‘Wonderful, energetic and entertaining’‘ The Irish Examiner.
Garrett Millerick (MC); Often described as a one-man tour-de-force, Garrett is angry, irreverent, and very funny. The world is out to get him. As he threatens to cross the line into politically incorrect territory, no subject is off limits to his acerbic, acidic wit. A London based writer, director and comedian, Garrett can be seen regularly at The Schadenfreude Cabaret in North London where he is the resident compere. He performed his debut stand up show at The Underbelly, Bristo Square for The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2012. The resulting show, Sensible Answers to Stupid Questions, played to sell out audiences and critical acclaim. He followed this up in 2013 with Does It Matter? – best summed up by Broadway Baby – “his angry, truthful, witty rants and professionalism make him a comedian worth following.” As a director, his work includes both film and theatre. His stage work has attracted considerable acclaim and as a writer/director his short films have been distributed and screened internationally. He also once directed a hip hop music video, a television show about Renault Clios and a documentary about Ballroom Dancing… but doesn’t like to talk about it. In Garret’s words: I write things down. I say the things. Sometimes I film the things. Done a bit of Theatre. Can’t sing or dance. Have a beard. That kind of thing. New Comedian of the Year Award 2013 – 2nd place Hackney Empire New Act Award 2013 – 2nd placeFeatured in The Independent’s ‘100 Best Jokes of The Edinburgh Fringe 2012′ ‘Storytelling is clearly in Millerick’s genome, a solidly enjoyable way to see out the midnight hour.’ Steve Bennett, CHORTLE. ‘A daring conclusion addressing comedy itself sees Millerick end on a high and mark himself out as one to watch.’ FEST ‘His comedic insights are undeniably honest and hilarious.’ «««« THREE WEEKS ‘His angry, truthful, witty rants and professionalism make him a comedian worth following.’ «««« BROADWAY BABY
