" after our dog walk we had a soup bowl sized coffee & white hot chocolate, which was just what the doctor ordered as we got blown in off the beach....and a lovely piece of carrot cake as a treat. - re charged us ready for our next dog walk , we know where we wil be going......and Bella (the Lab) had a lovely day..." T Strebor, Kernow

"Certainly not a traditional pub, this bustling bar is in a fantastic beach location and has a real mixture of customers, from serious surfers, to dog walkers, to families. It's all very light and airy with huge picture windows looking across the terrace to the huge expanse of sand and sea. There are built-in pine seats in the front bays, chrome and wicker chairs around plain wooden tables on the stripped wood floor,  and plenty of standing space around the bar counter; powder blue painted walls, some big ferny plants, tvs showing surfing videos, varied music; pool table. Perky, busy young staff and a chatty informal atmosphere."

"Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff (v. good looking as well), couldn’t have asked for a better night. Casual but at the same time sophisticated. V. Recommended."

"Fantastic atmosphere with a load of fit people behind the bar...real good eye candy, i suggest you check it out. Great food & sunsets, good surf. good vibes, a fresh bar which couldnt have come to Cornwall sooner."

"What a location! The views & sunset were superb and the food was an excellent match. Would definitely go again.."     P.  Clancy, Hudderfield

March 2008  - "how i found the Blue,in Porthtowan is a freak of chance...a recommendation from one visitor in Herefordshire who spent a few days in Cornwall in '07...anyhoo, what a setting!!! A sunset which silenced the onlookers and even caused the surfers to stop in awe!!!  The music was chilled, the food was great and atmosphere perfect!!!! If you have not been, then I can highly recommend....get there early on a nice evening as the large terrace gets very busy......."  A  Morgans- Herts, UK

May 2008 - "I am a big surfer and my favourite place is the Blue Beach Bar & Brasserie at Porthtowan, which is one of Cornwall's great surfing beaches. It has a long  terrece where you can sit with a long cool drink in the summer and watch the most fantastic sunsets over the sea. The lunch and dinner menus are really varied, the food is locally sourced and freshly cooked, and there's a great bar that hosts live bands and DJs at the weekend." The Observer by Thomas Bell, author of the Marine Conservation Society's Good Beach Guide.

Spring 08 - "like the beach? Well you cant get much closer than this. The Blue Bar & boardroom is the ultimate wedding venue for anyone with the penchant for laidback living, it's doors opening onto golden sands of Porthtowan Beach, the rugged cliffs towering above scattered with mine workings. Throw in the surf breaking at the rocks, and you've got one dreamy backdrop for a wedding.." Wed Magazine Spring 08 issue
